Grant Delpit, Brown hopes to catch 49ers ‘riding on a high horse’ in Week 6 – NBC Sports Bay Area & California

The 49ers sent a message to the rest of the NFL about “Sunday Night Football” by dismantling the Dallas Cowboys 42-10 at Levi’s Stadium. They are one of two remaining undefeated NFL teams and boast the best point differential in the league (plus 99).

You name the stats, they favor the 49ers. But the Cleveland Browns are looking at all this positivity as an opportunity to get a win on Sunday in their Week 6 matchup.

“They have to see us. “At the end of the day, they’re going to come to our house,” Grant Delpit, Brown’s safety officer. He told reporters Thursday in Cleveland. “Like I said before, they’re a great team right now. Their quarterback [Brock Purdy] He may be playing the best in the league, and the scheme suits him. They have a great defense.

“But like I said man, they’re riding their high horse right now. This might be the best time to get them.”

The 49ers entered the 2023 season determined to avoid the slow start that has plagued them in recent years. San Francisco started last season 3-4 before rattling off 12 straight wins en route to the NFC Championship. In 2021, the 49ers stumbled to 2-4 and had to win four of their last five games to reach the playoffs.

These days, Kyle Shanahan’s team is 5-0 for the first time since winning eight straight games to start the 2019 season and subsequently advanced to Super Bowl LIV.

“They are a great team at the moment. No one could stop them,” Delpit said. “They don’t run the ball a lot. They get a lot of takeaways on defense. They have a unique scheme on offense. We run a similar defense to them, so they’ve seen it before.”

“It will be a war. We are ready for it.”

The 49ers offense records the third-most yards per game (402.6). The Browns’ defense has the least turnovers in the league (196.8 per game).

“I think we get along well,” Cleveland linebacker Denzel Ward said Thursday. “They’re a dynamic offense and definitely a big challenge for us. I think we’re ready for the challenge and looking forward to it, going up against these guys and seeing where we’re at.”
