Sunday night’s aurora forecast has a Kp index of five on a scale of nine, meaning the lights can be “very pleasant to look at” if you’re in the right place, according to Noah.
There is also a chance of seeing the northern lights from Monday night into Tuesday, for which the Kp is expected to reach four – although the line of sight is expected to be slightly north.

Where will the northern lights be visible from?
Alaska and Canada have a high probability of an aurora borealis on Sunday night (see map below), and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has predicted that the northern lights may be visible from Washington, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Maine and most of Michigan, along with northern parts of Idaho, Iowa, Wyoming, New York, Vermont and New Hampshire.

What is the best way to see the northern lights?
The lights are best seen if you are away from city lights and in a high, dark place between 10pm and 2am local time. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) suggests getting a good vantage point by going somewhere on top of a hill with an unobstructed view facing north.
