With so much going on for International Women’s Day this year, it can be hard to know where to start. To make things easier, The Brighton Journal has compiled a selection of the best events in Brighton for you to chose from, all taking place on Friday the 8th of March.

This years theme is #BalanceForBetter: “better the balance, better the world”.

She Says @ Sallis Benney Theatre

SheSays is hosting a large event, consisting of talks and networking with five fantastic speakers. This year, they are welcoming back five previous speakers who, since appearing at SheSays have taken on big leadership roles in their industries. Emily Soggins, who became Head of Marketing at the 02, will be joined by Melissa Ezechukwu –  Global Digital Lead at Marie Stopes, Natalie Kane – Curator of Digital Design at the Victoria and Albert Museum, Alison Coward who founded Bracket and first-time SheSays speaker Catrina Baker-Bassett. There will also be free wine and food!

Family Fun @ Phoenix Brighton

Phoenix Brighton invites family teams to take part in a range of fun-filled workshops in The Green Room. You will have the opportunity to explore different materials alongside Phoenix artists in a relaxed fun environment.
“All you need is your imagination and a willingness to get stuck in!”

Phoenix Brighton. Drop in between 11 pm – 1 pm or 2 pm – 4 pm. Free. For families with children aged 5-14.

International Women’s Day @ Boulder Brighton

To celebrate International Women’s Day, Boulder Brighton are offering women the chance to come and climb for just £5. Known climbers Holly Duce and Belinder Fuller will be sitting a special set of climbs to get stuck into from 5 pm. First time climbers are welcome and the offer runs all day.

Being Limitless TV World Peace Summit @ The Hilton

BLTV will be celebrating International Women’s Day by “recognizing how women of all ages are rising up and finding their vision and voice to make a difference in the world.” Founder of BLTV and author of Being Limitless how to manifest miracles in your everyday life, Josephine Tyrell, will be joined by a range of special guests in the Ambassador Suite, with video links from Stewart Pearce and other surprise guests. BLTV invite you to take part in the part in the filming as a member of the studio audience.

International Women’s Day Mixtape @ The Spire

Party people Traumfrau are joining with The Queer Songbook to host a creative party that celebrates the queer women of our city. They have invited six inspirational women and non-binary people from Brighton to perform live on stage. This year the party will also embrace carabet! Guests include, Tabs (Butch, Please!), Zoe Lyons, Aneesa Chaudhry, Emma Frankland, Fruit, Roni Guetta, Kate Wildblood and Queen Josephine.
