Jets vs. Vikings NFL London, Live Updates: New York and Minnesota travel to the UK for the second international game of the season

Surprise NFL MVP candidate Sam Darnold leads the undefeated Minnesota Vikings to London to face the New York Jets and Aaron Rodgers in their second international game of the year. Minnesota has been a bit of a surprise this season as the journeyman signal caller led the NFL in touchdown passes and passer rating heading into Week 4. It’s certainly unexpected from a 2018 first-round draft pick who was taken away by these same Jets after the 2020 season and early career struggles.

The Jets were hoping for some stability at the quarterback position, at least for the next two years, when Aaron Rodgers arrived in the Big Apple before last season, but a torn Achilles sidelined him for all but four games in 2023, and a mediocre start to this season – Rodgers is in the middle of the pack in touchdowns, yards and passer rating for the Jets 2-2 – which could be cause for some early concern. That could change with a win over Minnesota to get the Gang Green over .500 in the first of three straight weeks the NFL will be in London.

  • Stephon Gilmore intercepts Aaron Rodgers! Vikings win!

The Jets had something going for them, but Rodgers unleashed his third interception of the day, this time to Stephon Gilmore, to seal their 23-17 loss.

  • The Jets would have a chance to win the extra TD

The Vikings could only manage a field goal, so they lead the Jets by just six points with three minutes left in the game.

The Jets get the ball back now, with a chance to win it all. They need the TD to tie it, and the extra point to win.

  • The Jets make it a three-point game with a Garrett Wilson TD!

  • This is what Sam Darnold Jets fans know all too well

  • Can the Jets come back in the fourth quarter?

The Jets need a TD and an extra point to tie the game, and they have one quarter to do it. (They can also get the lead with a TD and two-point conversion.)

    Can they achieve this?

Meanwhile, the Vikings haven’t scored since the second quarter. They either need to score more points or defend that lead with their (metaphorical) lives.

  • Aircraft Punishments: Lather, rinse, repeat

  • Aaron Rodgers went down, but now he’s back like nothing happened

Rodgers’ leg got trapped under a defender and he limped off the field, appearing to be about to enter the blue medical tent, when a Vikings penalty put the Jets and Rodgers back on the field. He would walk very cautiously at times, but he would get back on the field and walk down the field. Whew.

  • Gardner arrives in the locker room with a possible concussion

Sauce Gardner heads to the Jets locker room with a possible concussion after being knocked down by a teammate.

  • Aaron Rodgers reaches career milestone

  • Running back Aaron Jones has been ruled out

  • “Don’t look back in anger” (Do you understand)

    Thank you, Rich Eisen.

  • The Jets enter halftime with momentum

Not only did the Jets score their first points of the game to close out the first half, but they also sacked Sam Darnold before time ran out.

The Vikings led 17-7, putting the ball away at halftime.

  • Landing by Allen Lazard! Planes get on board!

  • The Vikings defense teaches the Jets offense

ESPN’s Bill Barnwell points to Vikings defensive coordinator Brian Flores and Jets offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett.

There were still three minutes remaining in the second quarter, but this still image of Jets coach Robert Saleh from the broadcast sums up how the first half went for the Jets.

  • This Vikings TD game is brought to you by Jets Penalties

Vikings WR Justin Jefferson had at least one chance to score that touchdown, but the Jets couldn’t stop tagging him when they tried to deny him the catch. He gave the Vikings excellent field position, and made scoring that touchdown easy.

  • Aaron Jones is questionable with a hip injury
