Jordan Love: Josh Jacobs won’t set record for most catches without a goal

Josh Jacobs has done a lot in the NFL, but there’s still a glaring blank on his resume.

Jacobs caught 197 passes during his five seasons with the Raiders, for 1,448 yards. But none of those passes reached the end zone, putting Jacobs on track to set an NFL record for a Packers starter.

Former NFL running back Gerald Riggs had 201 catches without scoring, the most of any NFL player without scoring. Jacobs and Riggs are the only players in NFL history to have more than 146 catches without scoring, and Packers quarterback Jordan Love has vowed that his new teammate will not become the record holder.

“No this” will not happenLove said across Ovary report“I definitely saw that the other day. I’m surprised he hasn’t scored a touchdown yet. Let’s see, here he is, 197 receptions in his career, no touchdowns. I sent that to him, I said, ‘Bro, we’re gonna get you a touchdown, for sure.’ His first pass could be a touchdown, who knows. We’ll see. Five receptions away from that? We’ll make sure he gets a touchdown there.”

Aaron Jones averaged 2.7 receptions per game as the Packers’ main quarterback last season, so Love and Jacobs may need to attack early to avoid passing the torch.
