Kevin Bacon is ready to hit the prom.
This week, Bacon announced to a gymnasium full of students from Utah's Payson High School, where his famous movie “Footloose” was filmed, that he would appear at the school's final prom.
This comes after students launched a campaign urging the actor to attend the event. Payson High School is scheduled to move in at the end of the school year.
The #BacontoPayson social media campaign was a group effort that engaged students in choreographed film and video remakes in hopes of catching Baconto's attention.
In an advertisement broadcast ontodayscreening, Bacon thanked the students for their invitation, calling the film and high school “a big part of my life.”
When he announced that he was coming, the students gathered at the school cheered the announcement.

“Footloose” is directed by Herbert Ross and written by Dean Pitchford. Shown here, center, is Kevin Bacon as Ren.
“Thank you guys. Let’s dance,” Bacon said.
“Footloose” was released in 1984 and starred Bacon as a teenager who moves to a small town that bans dancing and works to repeal the strict measure. It all culminates in a concert scene, thanks in part to Kenny Loggins, that still seems to resonate.
