McDonald’s customers criticize the franchise and are angry that it is “no longer affordable”

Food, drink

It was an unhappy meal.

One angry McDonald’s customer says the fast food franchise is no longer affordable for ordinary Americans, calling the company’s contemporary prices “insane.”

“So, I realized there was a labor shortage, and I realized there were pay increases and a number of other things,” Idaho man Christopher Olive began. A viral TikTok clipwhich has resurfaced recently.

“But $16? $16 for a burger, large fries, and a drink? It’s just crazy!” the distraught creator complained, pointing to his itemized receipt from a McDonald’s restaurant in Post Falls.

The original video was posted on social media last December, but has now gone viral again after McDonald’s recently announced a revenue increase directly influenced by a “strategic” hike in menu prices.

In Olive’s comments section, viewers expressed their frustration with fast food prices.

“This service is officially not convenient or affordable anymore,” grumbled one of them.

“Businesses know they can get these prices now, so they’ll never come back,” another sympathized, saying the glory days of cheap fast food are over.

However, others left comments in defense of McDonald’s, telling Olive that he ordered a deluxe burger and could have gotten a different meal for less.

“His brothers ordered their most expensive meal and acted surprised,” declared one defender.

“You sound like those baby boomers who complained about $5 popcorn,” said another.

However, Olive isn’t the only one who has gone viral about the cost of McDonald’s meals.

In March, a Connecticut creator expressed outrage over a $16.89 Big Mac combo meal at a fast food restaurant in Viral clip.

“You remember their stimulus checks? You thought you were going to get away with that stimulus money, right? They want it back,” he quipped.

And angry TikTokers aren’t the only ones being pressured over pricing. A viral Reddit thread asks: “What’s no longer worth it because it’s too expensive?” Highlighting consumer dissatisfaction with fast food costs.

Redditors have decried that the restaurant chain has “become ridiculously expensive” recently, with some users claiming that a McDonald’s meal would occupy customers as much as a sit-down establishment.

Gone are the days when hungry patrons could grab a hearty breakfast of two Egg McMuffins for $3, calling one in, or when the dollar menu was full of items available for just $1.
