The Garden State just got greener: Someone won the $1 billion jackpot on Tuesday, and the ticket was sold in Monmouth County, New Jersey, officials said.
While the winner of the jackpot that has been increasing since early December has yet to come forward, the New Jersey Lottery announced Wednesday that ShopRite Liquor in Neptune Township has sold the ticket.
The winning numbers were 7, 11, 22, 29, 38 and the golden mega ball 4.
State lottery officials have scheduled a news conference for noon Wednesday at the retailer's Route 66 location. ShopRite will receive an additional check for $30,000, they said.
Just because a ticket was sold in New Jersey does not mean the winner lives there.
Lottery winners can choose to remain anonymous, according to Games site.
The last time someone won the jackpot was on December 8, and when there is no winner, the jackpot is voided. When entered into the drawing, the estimated jackpot was $1.13 billion, according to game officials He said in a statement.
The jackpot has now been reset to its default value of $20 million.
The lottery is played in 45 states, as well as in Washington, D.C., and the US Virgin Islands.
