British press reports revealed that British businessman Mike Lynch was considering selling his luxury yacht, “Baizian”, in the months before the fatal trip to Sicily.

The search for his 18-year-old daughter Hannah continues after Mr Lynch was identified on Thursday as one of five bodies recovered from the wreckage.

The Italian Coast Guard also confirmed that the bodies of Jonathan Plumer, his wife Judith Plumer, and lawyer Christopher Morvillo and his wife Nedda Morvillo had been recovered after being discovered on the ship the previous day.

However, divers and underwater vehicles continue to search the scene for the fourth consecutive day, while the British billionaire’s youngest daughter, Hannah, remains missing.

It comes as industry sources told The Telegraph that Lynch put the £30m sailing boat up for sale in March earlier this year, before changing his mind after being cleared of fraud and pulling it off the market four months later. He was reportedly due to review the decision in the autumn after enjoying a summer on the boat.

Six people are missing after the 56-metre (186-foot) ship sank in a severe storm in the early hours of Monday near Sicily’s capital Palermo.

One man, the boat’s chief cook Ricaldo Tomas, was confirmed dead on Monday, while 15 others survived the disaster.

Mike Lynch was ‘ready to start over’ after decade-long legal battle

Former government minister Lord Deben told Times Radio on Wednesday that his friend Mike Lynch was at the “start of a new life” after being acquitted in a major fraud trial.

“He has come back ready to start again,” said the former Conservative MP. “He has made a huge contribution to Britain. His companies have put British IT at the forefront, and he would do it again, and we pray he can do it again.”

He praised his family, adding: “The daughters have done so much for him, and yet, at the same time, they have achieved so much in their work. As for the younger ones, they were [Hannah] Enrolling at Oxford University, where the eldest completed his studies with great confidence.

“All of this is happening while they are still by his side and supporting him and understanding that they can give him what no one else can give him. So to tear this family apart in this way is really, really sad.”
