Nintendo is launching a music app with themes from Mario and Zelda, and more importantly, a Wii Shop channel

a surprise! Nintendo has just unveiled a new app, all about the music of its games.

With an appropriate title Nintendo Musicthe new app will stream songs from nearly 40 years of Nintendo’s history, and will be available on smart devices today. In fact, it already is Available on iOS And Android. You’ll need a Nintendo Switch Online membership to start using it, but it’s available to those who do at no additional cost.

The launch trailer gave us a good idea of ​​what to expect, including an interface that should look very familiar to anyone who uses Spotify or Apple Music. Among the franchises whose music is included in the app are Super Mario, Animal Crossing, Splatoon, The Legend of Zelda, Metroid, Pokemon, and more.

Some of the features, as described in Nintendo’s launch trailer and press release:

• Songs can be streamed online or downloaded for offline listening
• Songs will be organized by game, as well as curated playlists
• Users will be able to organize their playlists
• Recommendations based on your Nintendo Switch play history
• Anti-Spoiler filter, which allows you to hide songs from certain games
• Possibility to extend the duration of some songs by 15, 30 or 60 minutes

Nintendo says more music will be added over time. Right now, there’s no (legal) way to stream all of Nintendo’s classic songs in one place, so it’s a pretty big surprise for fans. Personally, I am will Doing chores to the Animal Crossing soundtrack and Wii store channel theme.
