Pat Sajak said goodbye to “Wheel of Fortune” fans, thanking TV audiences “for letting me into your lives” for 41 seasons as host of the syndicated game show.
In a video clip that aired on Friday’s season finale (check local listings), the final spin of the wheel, he spoke directly to the television audience.
“Well, it’s time to say goodbye,” he said. “It has been an incredible honor to be invited into millions of homes night after night, year after year, decade after decade. I have always felt that this privilege comes with a responsibility to keep this daily half hour a safe place for family fun. No social issues, no politics.” “Nothing embarrassing, I hope it’s just a game.”
End of an eraPat Sajak is ready for the final episode of “Wheel of Fortune” after more than four decades
But Sajak said that with its global reach, “Wheel of Fortune” has become more than just a game. The game show has become an event “where families come together with friends, neighbors and entire generations,” Sajak said. “What an honor to play even a small role in all of this. Thank you for letting me into your lives.”
