Slovenia’s Janja Garnbret took the gold, defending her title from Tokyo. She beat Raboteau to victory on the final climb of the day at Le Bourget. Once the points were combined, Garnbret had 168.5 total points. Raboteau had 156.0. That makes Raboteau the first American woman to win an Olympic medal in sport climbing. Raboteau, who trained with Garnbret in Slovenia, said the silver medal was extra special because of her family’s ties to France.
