Earlier this year, the original I mean girls Cast members Lindsay Lohan, Lacey Chabert, and Amanda Seyfried reunited for a Walmart Black Friday commercial — but one key member of Plastics was noticeably missing. Now, Rachel McAdams reveals why Regina George missed her North Shore High School reunion.
In a new interview with diverse, McAdams explained that she has historically declined to do commercials, and when she was first approached about the Walmart ad, she wasn’t aware that her representatives had said yes.
“I don’t know; I guess I wasn’t excited about doing a commercial if I’m being completely honest,” McAdams said. diverse. “The movie looked great, but I’d never shot commercials before, and it didn’t feel like it was my portfolio. Also… I didn’t know everyone was doing it. Of course, I always love being a part of I mean girls Reuniting and hanging out with my plastic, but yeah, I found out later.
The Walmart ad premiered in November of this year, taped with adult versions of Cady Heron (Lohan), Gretchen Wieners (Chabert), and Karen Smith (Seyfried). Original cast members Rajeev Surendra (who played Kevin Janapour) and Daniel Franzese (Damien) also appear along with singer Missy Elliott.
McAdams also addressed rumors that she may have a cameo role in the future I mean girls The film is based on the Broadway musical. The actress explained that she and writer Tina Fey tried to make something work, but in the end, Regina would not appear in the new film. (Instead, Renee Rapp plays the new Regina in the film.)
“Tina and I brainstormed some ideas, but it was difficult to make everything work in the end,” McAdams explained. “I was really down for everything she wanted to do. I think the direction things went in is going to be amazing and I can’t wait to see it.”
