Rachel Ziegler is the latest DC Universe star to fight back against critics, as the “Shazam: Fury of the Gods” actor has taken to Twitter to defend the superhero sequel against “unnecessary” hate.
“Our movie is really good!” Ziegler wrote on Twitter. “But mostly I absolutely loved making it and the people I met doing it. Go watch it! Give it a shot. We have an 85% audience share for a reason.”
Ziegler continued, “Some people are out there [are] Just being… means meaningless. And this is not necessary. And I know, I know, “If you can’t handle the heat…” and all that nonsense, and you’re right. But our movie is actually very good. It’s pretty cool that you hate having fun these days. Good. We are ok. “
Ziegler attached four behind-the-scenes photos from the set of “Shazam: Fury of the Gods,” which includes fellow Atlas daughters Helen Mirren (who plays Hespera) and Lucy Liu (who plays Calypso). Ziegler plays Anthea, the youngest daughter who helps the fight to regain the power they believe was stolen by Shazam (Zachary Levi).
“Shazam: Fury of the Gods” opened on March 17 and took in $30 million in its opening weekend, a disappointing figure that failed to reach its predecessor’s $53.5 million opening in 2019.
Ziegler isn’t the only DC Universe actress touting her movie audience scores against critics. On the Oscars carpet, Dwayne Johnson defended his superhero in ‘Black Adam’ outing diverseAll I can do, and all we can do when we were making ‘Black Adam,’ is put our best foot forward, surround ourselves with the best people, and make the best movie we can. “.
Ziegler, whose breakout role was in Steven Spielberg’s “West Side Story,” will star in the next “Hunger Games,” “The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes,” and Disney’s “Snow White.”
