Samsung Galaxy Buds3 case leaks, new earbud design confirmed

Samsung’s Galaxy Buds series began in 2019, as the company recently reminded us ahead of its Unpacked event on July 10 where it’s expected to unveil the Galaxy Buds3. And in those five years, no model has used a stem design at all.

That’s set to change next week, as the Galaxy Buds3 are actually the first Galaxy Buds with stems. This information has been leaked before, and today a photo of the retail box confirms the move.

Obviously, a lot of people will complain that Samsung is “copying” Apple’s products here, but there are probably hundreds of other companies that have released stem-shaped true wireless earbuds in the past few years. Samsung is the latest company to adopt this design, and maybe that’s for the best?

With the exception of the Galaxy Buds+ that launched in 2020 (which don’t even have ANC), all of Samsung’s earbuds have had fairly average microphone performance, to say the least. So hopefully, the switch to stems, by virtue of the fact that this design brings the microphone closer to your mouth, will eventually result in a new pair of Galaxy Buds with excellent microphone performance.

The Buds3 are expected to feature ANC, of course, and while Apple may have “invented” earbuds with stems, Samsung’s upcoming earbuds feature a very angular design that’s (perhaps intentionally) quite different from Apple’s.
