Shakira is reportedly paying an additional $7 million amid a new tax investigation

We know Shakira Settle her criminal case With the Spanish government last week – after she spent about $27 million to get a reduced sentence after facing tax fraud charges between 2012 and 2014… with the court confession she made in front of the judge.

However, according to a recent story from a Spanish newspaper Eldorico — It’s not over yet… because prosecutors are now looking into alleged tax fraud from 2018, a completely different case than what was handled just 6 days ago.

The outlet says Shakira has “deposited” an additional $7.2 million into this new investigation — though it’s unclear if this is just a bond, of sorts, as she stays out of trouble… or if it’s something outright new. The settlement amount you pay to have the charges dismissed.

El Perioico, which cites anonymous court sources here, makes it sound like this latest cash payment is a gesture from Shakira to get a little more leniency when the case eventually wraps up… which is a bit strange and very different from the way we do things here in United State. However, the newspaper points out that her payment is not an admission of guilt.

If that’s true, and she ended up missing out on $7.2 million in the future… that means, in all, she paid about $34 million or so to resolve her tax problems – which have been haunting her for years.

To be honest, this is pretty shocking… but hey, we suppose such a thing could happen when you’re as rich as her. She has got an estimated net worth of around $300 million.
