During Evo 2024, it was announced that SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos would be re-released for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Steam. It turns out that the game is now available. Shortly after, it was announced that Kevin Rian would be participating in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves.
SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos was originally released in 2003. This one-on-one crossover fighting game featured a total of 36 characters from both SNK and Capcom.
Characters in SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos include Terry Bogard, Kyo, Ryu, Mr. Karate, Yuri, Jez Howard, Mai Shiranui, Ryu, Ken, Akuma, Chun-Li, Zero, M. Bison, Dimitri, and many more.
While there have been fighting games released between Capcom and SNK, this version was a collaboration led by SNK. Needless to say, the news that SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos is returning in this way is good news for those hoping for Capcom vs. SNK 3 to come out one day.
According to the SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos Steam PageThe game retails for $19.99.
SNK has confirmed that the cross-platform fighting game will be released on other platforms early next week, with the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and GOG versions set to launch on Monday, July 22.
Earlier this year, it was revealed that SNK’s Terry Bogard and Mai Shiranui would be joining the Street Fighter 6 Season 2 roster alongside M. Bison and Elena. Terry is slated for a fall 2024 release while Mai is slated for a winter 2025 release window.
The re-release of SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos will also include rollback netcode and tournament modes to enhance online experiences. A hitbox viewer and exhibition mode are also included.
Along with the surprise reveal of this game, SNK also announced that Kevin Rian will be joining Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, along with Vice and Mature joining as special DLC characters for The King of Fighters 15 later this year.
Again, it’s certainly a promising sign to see Capcom and SNK wanting to work together. Maybe we’ll see more collaboration between the two companies if the re-release does well enough.
