Update: Texas lost to Florida 10-7 in the U.S. finals on Saturday. Scroll down for a full recap.
A spot in the Little League World Series is on the line for Boerne Little League, as they face Lake Mary Little League again on Saturday.
Texas beat Florida on Monday to advance to the quarterfinals. The Southeast returned to the U.S. finals by beating Metro, West and Mountain over three days to earn a rematch.
Meanwhile, Bourne will use its best pitcher against Florida. Julian Hurst, who served as the center fielder for Bourne in Texas’ 5-2 win over Nevada on Wednesday, pitched a complete game in Bourne’s 4-1 win over Lake Mary. He has struck out nearly 20 batters so far in the tournament and has a chance to lead Texas to its first American title since 2017.

Texas vs Florida at LLWS 2024: Score updates and highlights from Saturday
First half 0-0
3:00 PM: Bourne’s Julian Hurst starts the game by hitting a ball to the mound, then pitches to Lake Mary’s Chase Anderson to start the game. The next batter hits a slow ball to Hurst, allowing center fielder Jett Matthews to hit a double. The game ends with a fly ball to center field.
3:22 PM: It was JJ Feliciano’s turn to take the mound, and Hearst was the first to pitch for Texas. In a battle of fielders, Hearst jumped on a 2-2 pitch to score a single to center field. A wild pitch allowed Hearst to reach second base. Feliciano struck out Gray Collins but went on to hit Cooper Hastings. Another pitch snuck past the Florida catcher, putting runners on second and third. Feliciano struck out Dr. Mugford and Cole Newson to end the inning, but the Lake Mary standout had already thrown 30 pitches.
2nd half, 2-0 Texas
3:26 PM: Hurst started the second inning with two quick groundouts. His first hit put Lake Mary back on the defensive quickly. Hurst scored just 21 runs through two innings.
3:40 PM: Feliciano started the inning much better, with three straight hits to get Kaden Goffey out. Jett Matthews hit a ground ball into the weak area of the defense for a single. The rebound allowed Matthews to reach second base. Aiden Munoz walked, as Feliciano had already reached the halfway point of his 85-pitch limit. Gage Stubing walked after him to load the bases. Bree’s pitch gave Texas its first pitch of the day and Bourne extended the lead after Caleb Chryst struck out. Feliciano had a strikeout to end the inning with 57 pitches.
3rd period, 4-0 Texas
3:49 PM: Hurst continues to crush batters as he starts the inning with a three-run home run. He then follows with his third and fourth hits of the day. The Burnie champion remains hitless for three innings.
4:05 PM: Ben Burkhart starts the Texas inning. Hurst returns to the top of the order and gets his second hit of the day, a single to left. Feliciano passes the ball to Collins to put runners on first and second. Hastings squirms weakly for a groundout. With two outs, Mugford hits a double to left that puts two outs beyond the reach of the center fielder. Feliciano throws his 84th pitch of the day for a third strike, ending the inning.
Fourth period, 4-1 Texas
4:20 PM: Matthews throws to first base on a groundout to shortstop not long after, giving Florida its first hit of the day. Hurst throws a wild pitch that allows the runner to advance to second base. The pitcher gets back on track with another strike, but Lake Mary collects a single to put runners on the corners. A single to center gives Florida its first run and things get interesting. Hurst seals things with a strikeout. Then Javy throws Landon Bono out after a dropped third strike goes to the back fence.
4:26 PM: Bono replaces Feliciano on the mound and hits his first hit on a groundout to center field. Matthews pops out to left field and Munoz does the same to right field.
5th inning, 6-4 Texas
4:49 PM: Hurst surrenders a double to start the inning, and a visit to the mound reveals that the pitcher has shoulder problems. He then surrenders a single to put Lake Mary runners on the corners. Hurst gives up his first hit of the inning but also makes the game 4-2 with the tying hit at the plate. He walks another batter to put the advancing runner on first base and manager Justin Newson makes his move. Mugford replaces Newson on the mound, and immediately surrenders a double with a single to Tyraj Alexander. Mugford gets bit in the leg by a returner and the game is tied. After being hit by a strikeout, Mugford is replaced by Newson. The pitcher gets a hit, but a lapse in concentration allows Alexander to sneak in from third base to score. The four-inning period ends with another hit by Bourne.
5:08 PM: Texas still manages to hit, with two strikes between a strikeout by Crist. Lake Mary makes a pitcher change to Luis Calo with Hurst on deck and runners on first and second. After Burkhart strikes out, Hurst walks, filling the bases for Collins. He ties the game with a groundout to the middle. A ball misses the catcher and Bourne advances. Hastings hits a groundout… except he doesn’t. Lake Mary fails to catch the third strike and Texas scores as Hastings didn’t even realize he could run at first. The groundout sends Bourne into the sixth inning leading off again.
6th inning, 10-7 Florida
5:30 PM: Crist comes in to throw for Newson and allows the first batter to walk. With the tying run at the plate, Florida hits a double to center that bounces off Collins’ glove. Crist then allows Bono to walk and the bases are full. Bourne gives up a chance for a double but Crist drops the ball at first base. A grounder hits a bad jumper to Matthews and Florida gets a run to make it 7-6. The score is tied at 7-7 on a sacrifice bunt. With two outs, Calo hits a grounder into the gap in right field for two runs. Alexander then allows a walk and Morrissey, Calo’s runner at second base, tries to advance to third base. A throw to third gets Texas away and Florida scores another run, before Alexander is caught trying to reach third base as well.
5:37 PM: Texas’ place in the LLWS finals depends on this frame and Guffey starts it off with a strikeout. Matthews reaches base but Lake Mary turns the ball into a double on the next pitch to end the game.
