Kathie Lee Gifford has revealed how she ended her 30-year feud with Howard Stern.

The feud between Gifford and Stern began in 1995, after she sang the national anthem at that year’s Super Bowl.

Her husband, NFL player Frank Gifford, who died in 2015 at the age of 84, hosted the live broadcast.

Gifford wrote in her book that she heard boos when she sang, and recalled eventually learning that Stern had asked his fans to boo.

Stern also made additional scathing comments about Gifford on air in 1999.

She explained that in 2012, they became friendly when he appeared on “Kathie Lee & Hoda” to promote his time on “America’s Got Talent.”

“I came into the ‘Today’ show studio and the Lord said again, ‘Cathy, come down and say hello to him,'” Gifford told the outlet.

She said God told her to “make a wish.” [Stern] “Fine with the show,” he said, adding, “So I got up from where my hair and makeup were done and these girls were told, ‘Don’t let Kathy go anywhere near the studio because Howard Stern is coming.'”

“There were a lot of people there that day because he brought an entourage,” she recalled. . . “Hi, I’m Kathie Lee,” I said. I thought it was time. So I said, “I want to wish you all the best with the new show.” I got up, came back, sat in the makeup room. They said: Why did you do that? I said: God commanded me to do so.

After that incident, Stern called her and left her a voicemail.

“He says – ‘I can’t even use the language he used,’” Gifford said.

“There were a lot of bad words, but he was like, ‘I can’t believe how nice you’ve been to me.’ I was so rude to you and you were so nice. I just need to apologize to you. Call me please.'”

She also detailed how her husband, Frank, and their son, Cody, didn’t want to take the call.

“It was horrible for me and horrible for my whole family,” she said of Stern.

“I’d never met the guy, until that day, and I’d never listened to his show or anything like that. Me [heard] He said certain things about me. I’ll go, why? “I don’t even know the guy.”

Gifford said Stern asked him: “Will you forgive me, Kathy, please?” I do hard work in my life. I know I hurt you. “I’m so sorry and I want to ask you to forgive me.”

She continued, “I said, ‘I’m really happy that you’re asking for forgiveness, because anytime we hurt someone in life, it’s important to ask for forgiveness. But I just want you to know that I forgave you 30 years ago.’ And he says, ‘What?’ And I said, ‘I forgave you 30 years ago.'” 30 years, and I’ve been praying for you every day since then and that’s the truth. He said, ‘Oh my God, would you like to come over for dinner sometime?’ And I said, ‘Of course.’

Gifford went on to call Stern “a very odd duck.”

“But then I saw him a few times on Sirius, and we were fine,” she explained. “I can fit in with a rock.”
