Netflix has released the teaser for the fourth and final season of the superhero series “The Umbrella Academy.” The footage, set to the tune of Europe’s 1986 hit “The Final Countdown,” shows the Hargreaves siblings emerging from their ordinary lives, preparing to come together one last time.
Based on the graphic novel series written by Gerard Way and illustrated by Gabriel Ba, the beloved series follows a family of adopted siblings with superpowers working to prevent the end of the world. This season, the Hargreeves face a new experience: living a normal life. Season 3 saw the siblings lose their superpowers after the universe was completely reset.
Elliot Page, Tom Hopper, David Castaneda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan, Aidan Gallagher, Justin H. Min, Ritu Arya, and Colm Feore all return to the series. Min’s Ben Hargreaves uses his octopus-like tentacles to hurl an enemy during the trailer’s fight scene.
Nick Offerman, Megan Mullally, and David Cross join the original cast for the final season. Offerman and Molly portray Drs. Jane and Jean Thibedeau, community college professors from New Mexico who experience severe déjà vu. Cross plays shy business owner and family man Cy Grossman, who is desperate to reconnect with his estranged daughter.
The last episodes of The Umbrella Academy series were on Netflix in June 2022, when the third season was released. The series premiered in 2019, with its second season premiering the following year.
Steve Blackman developed the series and serves as executive producer and showrunner. Jesse McKeon, Mike Richardson, Keith Goldberg, Scott Stuber and Beau Bowman also serve as executive producers. Way and Bá serve as co-executive producers. The series is produced for Netflix by UCP.
The six-episode final season will hit the streamer on August 8. Watch the trailer below.
