Yesterday, during its recent Indie World presentation, WayForward revealed Yars Rising – a new Metroidvania game based on the classic Atari franchise.

Veteran game designer James Montagna is helming this new project and seems to have a fresh take on game design after collaborating with Nintendo for last year's release Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp.

This is the amazing experience that Nintendo game makers have provided for him (Via the game file):

“It's like seeing a color that doesn't exist. Like, there's no name for that color. I couldn't imagine it before. But once you're affected by that and you see that, it's like you can't see it any other way.”

Many developers have mentioned how they grew up as fans of Nintendo games and idolize famous faces like Shigeru Miyamoto, so it's always good to hear stories like this. Just last year, Metroid Dread's MercurySteam team described working with Nintendo as a “game-changing experience.”

Yars is scheduled to arrive later this year on the Switch eShop and Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp can be purchased now.
