Tiger Woods prepares for his debut TGLa “new technology-infused collegiate golf league” he co-founded with fellow professional golfer Rory McIlroy next year. The first game at SoFi Center in Florida will be shown on ESPN and ESPN Plus on January 7. League announced today.
TGL is essentially a big-budget version of Top Golf that takes place on the course. In matches, two teams of golfers drive balls into a 3,400-square-foot screen until they reach within 50 yards of the “hole.” They will then transform into an artificial green the size of a football field that switches between holes using “nearly 600 robotic operators” and a 41-yard-wide rotating section.
Each match is expected to last about two hours and will see three of each team’s four players competing. The video below explains more.
TGL, which was supposed to launch in January this year before its launch The dome collapsed Two months ago, it consists of six teams. Those clubs include Tiger Woods’ Jupiter Links Golf Club and Rory McIlroy’s Boston Common Golf Club, but the first match will be between the New York Golf Club and The Bay Golf Club.
