Trent Williams Plans New Playoff Entry Song for 49ers in Bumpboxx – NBC Sports Bay Area and California

SANTA CLARA — The 49ers' Bumpboxx ritual will continue with a new song heading into the 2024 NFL playoffs opener against the Green Bay Packers on Saturday at Levi's Stadium.

Trent Williams and Deebo Samuel are the two players who choose the song that plays on the giant Bluetooth speaker system as the team makes its way into the tunnel to get onto the field before the game.

The tradition is that as long as the team keeps winning, the song will remain the same. After a loss, the All-Pro left fielder and wide receiver chooses a new song.

“Man, that's a good question,” Samuel told NBC Sports Bay Area when asked what song would be played before Saturday's NFC divisional round game. “We haven't talked about that yet. Ask Trent.”

While the song would normally change due to the loss to the Los Angeles Rams in Week 18, this was no ordinary game, with many starters playing a limited number of snaps, if they did at all. But it seems like switching the song is still in order.

“Maybe we need an interlude song,” Williams told NBC Sports Bay Area. “Thanks for making me think again about that. We have to make a choice.”

The 49ers played a variety of songs to get their energy levels up as they headed to the field before kickoff. During their run to Super Bowl LIV in 2019, Roddy Ricch's song “The Box” was their pregame anthem.

Recently, Williams and Samuel have turned to rapper NBA YoungBoy's songs. “B—h Let's do it” and “Father” were among the songs used during the 2023 season.

No matter what song Williams and Samuel choose, there's no doubt the team will be focused and energized as they make the run to Levi's Stadium for a 5:15 PM PT kickoff against the Packers on Saturday.
