Tyne Daly is exiting the Broadway revival doubt; Amy Ryan takes over
The Roundabout Theater Company began a revival of John Patrick Shanley's play on February 3.
Tyne Daly has exited the Broadway revival of John Patrick Shanley doubt, which opens February 3 at the Todd Haymes Theater. The revival canceled the first preview, which was scheduled for February 2, after the unexpected hospitalization of Daly, who was scheduled to lead the cast as Sister Aloysius. Set in an all-boys Catholic school in the Bronx, the drama begins when the strict Sister Aloysius begins to suspect an inappropriate relationship between Father Flynn and a student. The cast includes Liv Schipper as Father Flynn, along with Zoe Kazan as Sister James and Quincy Tyler Bernstein as Mrs. Mueller. Vertigo interim artistic director Scott Ellis leads the revival, which is the play's first on Broadway.
Ryan was nominated for two Tony Awards for her performance in A Streetcar Named Desire And Uncle Vanya-Both Roundabout Theater Company productions.
