USMNT's Gio Reyna has agreed to join Nottingham Forest on loan from Dortmund

Nottingham Forest have reached an agreement with Borussia Dortmund to sign USMNT international Gio Reyna on loan until the end of the season.

Reina will travel to Nottingham before the transfer is completed, while the option to buy the attacking midfielder is still under discussion.

Reina's current deal with Dortmund runs until June 2025, and the versatile striker signed for super-agent Jorge Mendes in December, shortly before the January transfer window opened.

Reina has started just twice for the German club this season, making a further 11 appearances as a substitute.

The 21-year-old missed the first month of the season due to injury, and has made just 13 appearances in all competitions since his return in September.

He returned to the USMNT lineup during the October international break after a series of injuries and a falling out with head coach Gregg Berhalter. The United States has two major tournaments on the horizon over the next three years, as the 2024 Copa America will be held this summer before the United States co-hosts the 2026 World Cup.

Reina moved to Dortmund's academy from New York City in 2019 and joined the first team the following year. He was part of the Dortmund squad that won the 2020-21 DFB-Pokal.
