(CNN Spanish) — The Venezuelan military evacuated 384 people three days after the Bulla Loca mine collapsed, killing at least 16 people.
Venezuela's Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) this Friday began dismantling the illegal Bulla Loca mine located in the city of La Paragua in Bolivar state, killing at least 16 people and injuring 16 others. , said Domingo Hernandez Lares, the company's operational strategy commander.
On the first day, 384 people were evacuated, the army chief said in his account on the social network of “deforestation and illegal mining”.
The collapse of the illegal mine took place on Tuesday and as of this Friday, according to official reports, at least 16 people have died and 16 others have been injured.
The bodies of some of the victims were buried on Thursday and rescue operations continued, officials said.
It is worth noting that the Bulla Loka mine is located in a difficult to access area. To get there, it is necessary to cross the La Paragua River, which will further complicate the arrival of aid teams, environmental expert journalist Fritz Sánchez told CNN this Friday.
