Warner Bros. announced It announced a slew of changes to its release schedule, most notably scheduling an untitled event film from Legendary and Dune director Denis Villeneuve for December 18, 2026 in IMAX.
Following the massive success of Dune: Part Two, Villeneuve has entered into talks with Legendary to adapt Annie Jacobsen’s Pulitzer Prize finalist novel Nuclear War: A Screenplay. It is not yet clear whether this project will reach this new release slot.
Jacobsen’s book “explores the scenario of what might happen in the event of a nuclear war, based on dozens of exclusive new interviews with military and civilian experts who built the weapons, were privy to the response plans, and were responsible for making those decisions if necessary.”
Legendary is also working with Villeneuve to develop a third film, titled “Dune.”
An untitled Monsterverse film is also scheduled to be released on March 26, 2027.
An animated film from Warner Bros. Pictures Animation and Locksmith, which was previously scheduled for the same date, has been removed from the calendar.
