It’s Democratic National Convention week, and unlike the Republican National Convention, there are already a host of big-name stars lining up outside the United Center in Chicago. Kamala Harris won’t have Hulk Hogan to rip off his shirt in support, but she will have celebrities like Kerry Washington and Mindy Kaling at her side. Over the next week, we’ll be watching to see which stars will be heading out to take a selfie with Doug Emhoff or perform the Apple Dance with Tim Walls. Let’s get to it!

If you know one thing about Washington, it’s that she probably spent seven seasons playing Olivia Pope, the D.C. coordinator on scandalIf you know anything else about her, it’s that she’s a Democrat. She hosts fundraisers, knocks on doors, and posts frequently about making sure you’re registered to vote. Of course, she was going to appear at the Democratic National Convention, and she got a good spot, too. Washington is one of the convention’s co-hosts (meaning she’ll open the broadcast with some speeches and appear throughout the evening) along with Tony Goldwyn, Mindy Kaling, and Ana Navarro. Washington will host the convention on Thursday night, when Harris will accept the nomination and deliver her speech.

Shonda Rhimes was putting something in the water while filming. scandal, Why is Goldwyn also interested in Democratic politics? Goldwyn will host Monday night, when President Joe Biden is scheduled to speak. The easy money is on Goldwyn, who jokes about how playing the president on TV is a lot easier than doing it in real life.

Kaling will host the ceremony on Wednesday, when Tim Walls will speak. I see they’ve got the comedians together.

the view The former Republican and host will take the stage Tuesday. She will be joined on the schedule by Barack and Michelle Obama, who may even deliver a speech together? I can’t say for sure.

“I can’t tell you how much this means to me,” Navarro said in an Instagram video. “Look, I’m a little refugee girl who fled communism, who fled Nicaragua at the age of eight, and found freedom, found opportunity, and found a home in America. And for me to have the opportunity to stand on that stage and help my daughter Kamala make history and become the Democratic nominee, it’s just an incredible moment.”

Barack and Michelle are scheduled to appear on Tuesday, but as I just noted, it’s not clear whether they will speak together or alternate. Tuesday night’s theme is “A Bold Vision for America’s Future,” so perhaps their bold vision will be two people giving a speech together. We’ll see.

Meanwhile, Bill and Hillary Clinton will be taking separate nights. Hillary will appear Monday, while Bill will have a better showing Wednesday, just before Walz. The Obamas may have stuck together because they didn’t want it to be clear who the Democratic Party’s favorite was.
