A24 has acquired the rights to Rainey’s sci-fi comedy novel, which follows an unhappy couple in their personal and professional lives until they realize that their reality is not what it seems and that there may be alternatives. The novel will be released in 2023 via Drawn & Quarterly.

Lawrence will produce Excellent Cadaver, a comedy produced by Sony Pictures, alongside Justin Ciarrochi. No hard feelings. Lawrence and A24 recently announced another project – a murder mystery based on Real Housewives Apple’s reality franchise — and they worked together on the Oscar-nominated drama the bridgewhere she played a military veteran trying to adjust to life in her homeland. Lawrence was nominated for four Academy Awards for acting, winning for her leading role in silver linings playbook In 2013.
