A volley of missiles hit a medical clinic in the eastern Ukrainian city of Dnipro on Friday, killing two and wounding 23, according to the region’s governor.
Of the 23 wounded, 21 were hospitalized, three of them in serious condition, the governor said Sirhi Lisk said in a telegram.
Volodymyr Orlov, deputy head of the Dnipropetrovsk regional military administration, told NPR that there are no military facilities anywhere nearby.
“Look around and you will see a stadium, houses with broken windows and a veterinary clinic,” he said. “All you see here are civilians.”
Videos and photos of the scene showed smoke billowing from a damaged three-storey building as rescue workers watched. in On Twitter, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called out the attack “A crime against humanity.”
Lessac said that among the wounded were two children, ages 3 and 6. He added that one of the dead and wounded in the attack was a 69-year-old man who was walking near the clinic as the strike began.
Larisa Koreshkova was at her home in Dnipro with her husband when she heard the missile whistle and then the windows blew out and damaged her balcony. “My hands and feet were shaking,” she told NPR. The Russians are trying to terrorize civilians.”
Tetiana, who works in the outpatient clinic next to the hospital hit by the missile, says that flying glass seriously injured one of the patients in the clinic.
“We were looking everywhere to find enough bandages to help her,” said Tetiana, who declined to give her last name, saying she was not authorized to speak to the media.

Russia did not immediately comment on the air strikes, but said the explosion that destroyed buildings in the Russian city of Krasnodar on Friday was caused by Ukrainian drones. No casualties were reported.
As of Friday morning, rescuers were still in Dnipro, Lysak said, searching for three missing people who were believed to be trapped under the rubble. Crews were also trying to put out a fire in the clinic and a nearby building that extended for a distance of 1,000 metres.
