Man Wanted After Cyclist Assault

Man Wanted After Cyclist Assault
Cavan Halley
Sussex Police are appealing to the public to help them find a man they wish to speak to in connection to an assault on a Brighton cyclist.

A 23-year-old man was cycling along a shared space on Kings Road at approximately Saturday August 6, when he encountered a man in his path. He braked to avoid him before riding past.

Further down the road the man and the cyclist came into contact again with words exchanged before the pedestrian went on to grab the cyclist before punching him in the head multiple times.

The assault was only stopped when a bystander intervened and then another man who appeared to know the suspect pulled him away telling him to stop.

The suspect has been described as white, late 30s/early 40s, with short ginger hair and a distinctive bridge nose. The man also has an outline star tattoo on his left hand which police believe makes him easily identifiable.

He was wearing a navy blue polo shirt with a light blue ‘moose’ logo, white shorts and black shoes. He had a silver watch on his right wrist and a silver bracelet on his left wrist.

Police want to speak to the man or anyone else who witnessed the incident. If you know him or was a witness, please email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call 101 quoting serial 543 of 06/08. Alternatively, you can call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
