Stunning Views Just A Stone’s Throw From Brighton! A Day Trip To The Seven Sisters!
When living in Brighton, this is definitely one of the things you have to do at least once! Grab a picnic and head out along the coast to this breathtaking chalk cliffs, you sure won’t regret it. Here are our tips on how to make your trip a real success!
Of course, you can easily go there by car with the big car park near the Seven Sisters Country Park Visitor Centre, but if you are not in a hurry we recommend you to take the bus. Grab a seat at the top deck and enjoy the views as the bus takes you along the Sussex coast. Just be sure not to take the 12A as it takes forever! Check timetables for the 12X before you go and be there in roughly 50 minutes.
Get off at Seven Sisters Country Park stop and you only have to cross the road to enter the park premises with grazing sheep and a little river flowing towards the sea in gentle oxbows. Basically, there are three walking trails you can choose from, each one offering you different views of the Seven Sisters and the sea. Before venturing into either of the trails, drop into the visitor center to grab a map.
If you want to get the same panoramic view you always see on pictures, you should start with the path leading to Seaford Head. This easy 45 minute walk through the grasslands takes you straight to a fantastic viewpoint from where you can enjoy the Seven Sisters in an amazing panorama. If you are up for a picnic, there definitely is no better spot to have it!
An easier option with a slightly less panoramic view is the beach trail. Within 30 minutes (one way), this one gets you down to the beach from where you can at least see the first of the Seven Sisters. You can choose either of them to start off with although the first one definitely is our top choice!
Of course, it all depends on your fitness, and your motivation, but the so-called Country Park Trail is worth the effort. With sensible shoes, this trail is doable in approximately an hour and a half. Starting right outside the visitor center, it first leads you towards the sea and then basically over the top of the Seven Sisters, spoiling you with amazing views over the sea, the surrounding grasslands, and Beachy Head lighthouse.
As this trail is a circular route, it will take you back to the visitor center. After all the walking, you will probably be pretty tired. Luckily, the bus stop to go back to Brighton is just on the other side of the road. So sit back, relax and have a look at the amazing pictures you have taken.
