Fall worker dies at The Country Club in US Open preparations

A security guard died overnight after falling into The Country Club in Brooklyn, as preparations are underway for the upcoming US Open. According to the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office, the ranger fell from a fenced area behind a tent sometime during the night and was discovered on Wednesday morning. The name of the worker who was not a club employee has not been released while family members are notified. The country club said the goalkeeper was appointed by the American Golf Association. “The club is deeply saddened by the tragedy that occurred earlier today. Our thoughts and prayers are with the individual and his family,” a spokesperson for The Country Club wrote in a statement. The DA office said no false game was suspected and the coroner would determine an official cause of death and method of death. The game’s cathedrals are considered by many to be the birthplace of American golf, and golf icon Tiger Woods announced Tuesday that he would not take part in the tournament.
