A fight broke out Monday at Walt Disney World over a family photo. Unfortunately, no one was wielding a lightsaber.
When the park decided to put up a sign celebrating “100 Years of Wonderland,” it likely didn’t expect it to inspire a fistfight. Two guests were banned from Walt Disney World on May 15 after a fight broke out in front of the Centennial sign. It started around 2:30 p.m., when the Orange County Sheriff’s office responded to a call about a battery situation, a spokesperson told SFGATE.
One family was trying to take a photo in front of the Centennial banner in the Magic Kingdom park when a larger family came close to the one that was already there. The OCSO said a member of the first family told the larger family to move so they could take a picture, but then a member of the larger family punched a member of the first family in the face.
Since the altercation, several videos of the fight have circulated on social media. However, the OCSO said it could not confirm whether the videos were from the altercation.
One of the battery victims received treatment for injuries at the scene. The police made no arrests, as the younger family refused to press charges.
However, two members of the extended family involved in the fight were denied entry to the park and “property was trespassed,” the OCSO said.
Walt Disney World prohibits the use of profanity and “engaging in unsafe, illegal, disruptive, or offensive conduct,” according to Garden rules. The company did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
