It looks like Disney is going to make a big comeback at the box office on Thanksgiving: Hmm Moana 2 The trailer released Wednesday became the studio’s most-viewed ever for an animated film, clocking in at 178 million views in 24 hours.
That movement is sailed by previous record holders Inside out 2 (157 mm) and Frozen 2 (116 mm).
This number is also higher than Pixar’s Incredibles 2 (113 mm).
Views come only from the internet via TikTok, YouTube, X, Instagram, Facebook and Snapchat. There were very positive reactions to the animation, love of the original film, and love of the characters. Moana, Maui and Pua were prominent characters as fans described how Moana is one of their favorite Disney characters of all time. This is all very well considering that this was a project originally conceived as a Disney+ series that the studio took to the big screen.
The film is directed by David Derrick Jr., Jason Hand, and Dana LeDoux Miller, and produced by Christina Chen and Yvette Merino. Moana 2 Featuring the music of Grammy Award winners Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear, Grammy Award nominee Opetaia FoaŹ»i, and three-time Grammy Award winner Mark Mancina.
In Part II, after receiving an unexpected call from her way-seeking ancestors, Moana must travel to the distant seas of Oceania and to long-lost dangerous waters for an adventure unlike anything she has ever encountered. Dwayne Johnson reprises his voice as the demigod Maui, while Auli’i Cravalho returns as the lead voice.
As a testament to the love for Moana’s story and characters, the original film, released in 2016, was the most streamed film across all platforms in 2023, according to Nielsen.
Moana 2 It hits theaters on November 27.
