The reason behind the departure of the chief of staff of the British royal palace, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, after only three months in the position has been revealed.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex hired Josh Kettler, a veteran public relations professional, shortly before their three-day trip to Nigeria in May.

However, it was revealed on Monday that Ketler is no longer on the Sussex payroll.

The Washington Post has learned that Ketler left his post after being hired “on a trial basis,” and that his sudden departure was “mutual” after both parties agreed he was not right for the role.

The Santa Barbara resident was appointed to “guide Prince Harry through his next phase” and accompanied the father of two, 39, on his can-do trip to London in May.

There, the Duke celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games.

Harry founded the Games as a sporting competition for active and retired military service members from around the world who were injured, wounded or ill.

“Perhaps most telling is that in my entire time there, I don’t think I’ve ever heard a single current or former employee on their staff say they would take the job again if given the opportunity,” according to a source. He told the Daily Mail:.

“These are not employees who were just plucked off the streets.”

“Many of them are people who have excelled working with demanding bosses in high-performance companies and environments,” they added.
