Leading professional ballerina Michaela DePrince posted a final post on Instagram weeks before her death was announced this week.
The 29-year-old actress, who starred in the 2021 ballet film “Coppelia,” recently died of undisclosed causes, according to an announcement from her social media account on Friday.
DePrince was seen smiling in Nike gear in her latest post on August 9, captioning both photos with a simple peace sign emoji.
In addition to “Coppelia”, she appeared on “Dancing with the Stars”. During AT&T’s outstanding performance in 2012 And in Beyoncé’s 2016 Emmy-nominated musical “Lemonade.”
DePrince grew up in conflict-ridden Sierra Leone, Africa, and saw her first image of an American ballerina while in an orphanage.
She made her professional debut with the Johannesburg Ballet.
Later, she became the youngest principal dancer at the Dance Theatre of Harlem.
In 2021, DePrince became the second soloist with the Boston Ballet, which helped her land the lead role in “Coppelia.”
