Justin Fields says Chargers, Ravens and Raiders have talked to Bears about trading him

Before the Bears traded quarterback Justin Fields to the Steelers, there were at least three other teams involved in trade talks.

Fields said of his teammate, Cam Heyward Podcast The Chargers, Ravens and Raiders were three teams that expressed interest, and Fields wanted to go somewhere where he would be able to compete for the starting job.

“I’m not sure about all the teams, but there were a lot of teams that had a solid quarterback and I didn’t want to do that. The Chargers were one of them, the Ravens were another,” Fields said. “The Raiders talked a little bit. I don’t know much. I don’t know who else was there, but a lot of teams had solid quarterbacks that just got new contracts so I didn’t want to be there.”

Fields was eventually traded to Pittsburgh, where Russell Wilson beat him out for the starting quarterback job, but suffered a leg injury that led to Fields starting all three games this season.

Things seem to be going well in Pittsburgh for Fields, who holds no hard feelings toward the Bears for trading him and selecting Caleb Williams first overall. Fields said he first met Williams at a camp when Fields was at Ohio State and Williams was in high school, and that Williams was easily the best player on the field at the camp.

“He was better than anybody ever,” Fields said of Williams. “He and J.J. McCarthy were the two best in my opinion.”

Now Fields is playing so well that some are wondering if the Bears should have kept him instead of trading him and selecting Williams.
