The 2024 Major League Baseball regular season has not yet finished, and the postseason has not yet been concluded. The Atlanta Braves and New York Mets will play a doubleheader on Monday afternoon to determine the final two spots in 2024. MLB Playoffs. The Arizona Diamondbacks are still alive for a spot in the National League, but they will need to lose either the Mets or the Braves twice on Monday to get there.
The Braves would be the No. 5 seed in the NL if they win once on Monday. The D-backs can only clinch the No. 6 seed if one team is swept in the doubleheader at Truist Park. The Mets could be the No. 5 or No. 6 seed in the NL bracket depending on what happens Monday.
We know the other 10 teams in the 12-team postseason bracket, however, and the entire American League field is ready. The playoffs begin Tuesday with the best-of-three Wild Card Series kicking off.
In the AL, the Astros (the No. 3 seed) will host the sixth-seeded Tigers in the Wild Card Series. The No. 4 Orioles will host the No. 5 Royals, who jumped the Tigers on Sunday in their regular-season finale with a win over the Braves. The Yankees earned the No. 1 seed in the American League and a home run through the ALCS. The second-seeded Yanks and Guardians received a first-round bye and will begin play in the ALDS.
In the National League, we know the top four seeds: No. 1 Dodgers, No. 2 Phillies, No. 3 Brewers and No. 4 Padres. The Dodgers have had home field advantage throughout the entire postseason as they have the best record in baseball. The Phillies have a first-round bye, while the Brewers and Padres will find out their Wild Card Series opponents on Monday before that series begins on Tuesday.
All Wild Card Series are hosted by the top classifications and will conclude by Thursday, October 3. The LDS tour begins on Saturday, October 5. The league championship series begins on Sunday, October 13. The World Championship will start either on Tuesday, October 22nd or Friday, October 25th.
