After weeks of rumors, reports have surfaced before AEW the end of the world PPV last night (December 30) announced that Andrade El Ídolo will exit the company immediately after the show in New York.
Tony Khan confirmed these reports while discussing the departures of QT Marshall and Raphael Murphy during the post-PPV media hype:
“Someone who hasn't been with us for the last five years, but he's been with us about half the time, and he's been great and someone I really respect, and I wouldn't necessarily expect to see him, like he does now.” Right now, I'm renewing the contract, but the guy who I have a lot of respect for and who I'm parting ways with on good terms and who was great and who was here and wrestled tonight is Andrade El Edolo.
“Andrade El Edolo's contract expires at the end of the year, and we've had great conversations. I have a lot of respect for Andrade El Edolo, he was a great performer in the Continental Classic. I wanted to keep him involved at the top, and if we can reach an agreement, he will definitely be someone “We're going to put him in a prominent position. I think we've done everything we can to show Andrade El Ídolo that we really appreciate him, and the last run he's had in recent months has been tremendous. If this is how he leaves AEW, talk about leaving on a high note.”
Khan did not mention WWE, as most clear reports and speculation point to Andrade's return.
