Apple is expected to start unveiling its M4 Mac lineup in less than two weeks, with updates to iMac, MacBook Proand Mac mini To start the new M4 transition.

It is unclear whether there will be a proper Apple event or not, given that the company decided to release the new iPad mini as a press release. Either way, the new Macs will be in customers’ hands starting November 1st.

16GB of RAM as standard

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple will likely start shipping at least 16GB of RAM for the new M4 Macs, including the base model. MacBook Pro 14 inchNew Mac miniAnd the new iMac.

Apple has been shipping 8GB of RAM to its base model Mac for the past eight years, so this is a nice change. It certainly makes sense for Apple Intelligence to be more memory-intensive on our devices.

Redesigned Mac mini

Recent reports have indicated that Apple is coming Mac mini It will be the biggest redesign in PC history in 14 years, and the upcoming model is expected to shrink significantly. In the process, it will also likely lose USB-A support, though it should get some additional USB-C ports to make up for that. It will also have ports on the front, similar to Mac Studio

USB-C Magic Mouse, keyboard, and trackpad

Rumors indicate a new presence iMac this month, opening the door for Apple to finally update all its magical accessories. Given the fact that Apple has to comply with the EU’s USB-C mandate by the end of this year, we’ll almost certainly see goodbye to Lightning on Apple’s desktop accessories with the new M4 iMac Refreshes.

Space Black on the cheapest MacBook Pro

Currently, Space Black is available exclusively for the higher-end M3 Pro and M3 Max models MacBook prosand is not available in the base model MacBook Pro M3. Unfortunately, this computer still comes in Space Gray. While this may seem like a deliberate choice, it can simply be a matter of convenience.

Last year, when the new M3 MacBook Pro was released, it was discovered that they were running macOS Ventura out of the box, rather than the latest macOS Sonoma. This may not seem like a lot, but the M3 Pro and M3 Max MacBook pros He ran macOS Sonoma.

The fact that the base model M3 was running the Ventura may indicate that MacBooks It was ready to ship earlier than higher-end models, but Apple simply didn’t release it. This might explain why the base model remains the old grey, rather than being consistent.

Hopefully this means we’ll see Space Black coming to Apple’s cheaper M4 MacBook Pro.

All-new M4 Pro and M4 Max chipsets

Although we’ve already seen the base model’s M4 chip debut in iPad Pro Going back to May, we still haven’t seen Apple’s high-end chips, like the M4 Pro and M4 Max. These chips should debut in the new top end MacBook pros Later this month.

We don’t have any concrete leaks about the M4 Pro and Max chipsets, other than the fact that they should be based on TSMC’s more efficient 3nm process, which is shared by the A18 and M4 chipsets. They will be faster as usual, although there is no information on the essential items at the moment.

Wi-Fi 7

Apple will likely support the Wi-Fi 7 standard in the upcoming M4 Macs, as it did in the iPhone 16 lineup.

Wi-Fi 7 supports speeds of up to 46 Gbps, which is five times faster than Wi-Fi 6E’s 9 Gbps. Wi-Fi 7 also operates on 320MHz channels and supports the 6GHz band, reducing interference and signal congestion across a wide range.

conclude

Overall, the M4 Mac lineup looks very exciting – especially the base model MacBook Pro. It will be interesting to see whether or not the pricing changes, in light of the RAM upgrade. That the Mac mini is getting its first redesign in over a decade is also exciting, especially with the front I/O modules.
