Bond Street Coffee goes single-use cup free!
Popular Brighton coffee shop Bond Street Coffee has ditched single-use takeaway cups in an attempt to reduce waste and help the environment.
From now on, customers will need a reusable cup if they wish to take their coffee away from the shop, which is part owned by Horsham Coffee Roaster. As part of the scheme, Bond Street have started to sell bamboo cups (pictured below) for only £4, and you get your first coffee for free!

Tomorrow is the day we go single use cup free, but fear not! We are selling our bamboo keep cups for £4 with a free coffee with that! That’s basically a £1 for a keep cup!! AND not only that, every time you bring in a keep cup (or a vessel of your choice) you’ll get 20p off your drink! Sounds good right?! Look forward to seeing you soon. With climate concerns more pressing than ever, this is an encouraging move from one of our city’s most popular independent coffee shops, and manager Karina Siudzinska says that the response so far has been overwhelmingly positive:
So far all the customers have been great! Public understanding of the climate crisis, and the necessity for action, has never been greater, and people are more than happy to get one of our bamboo cups. Hopefully we’ll start to see other Brighton coffee shops following suit in the near future. Putting an end to single-use cups is a good start, but we also understand that if we are to meet the challenges presented by climate change then more radical solutions will be necessary.
