Gary Prado Salmon, the Bolivian soldier who captured “Che” Guevara, died.

The 84-year-old general commanded a patrol that arrested Argentine guerrillas in October 1967.

Bolivian general Garry Prairie Salmonwho captured Ernesto “Che” Guevara In 1967, he died at the age of 84 on a Saturday in Santa Cruz. This information was confirmed by his son on social media.

“God called my father General Div SP Gary Augusto Prado Salmon to his kingdom. He left with his wife and children. He left us a legacy of love, integrity and courage. He was an extraordinary man,” wrote his son Gary. Prado Aras on his Facebook account.

Since mid-April, Prado Salmon has been hospitalized due to health problems, for which the son thanked everyone who supported his family “in this time of his agony” in his message.

General Gary Prado Salmon commanded a patrol in southwestern Bolivia on October 8, 1967. It ended with “Che” capturing GuevaraThe injured person.

A day later, the Bolivian military complied with the order Hang Guevara.

That same year, the Bolivian Congress declared Prado Salmon a national hero for fending off what the Bolivian military government of General RenĂ© Barrientos considered a “devastating foreign invasion”.

An accidental shot in 1981 hit him in the spine and left him in a wheelchair. He retired from military service in 1988.

In 2020, he was released after eleven years under house arrest for his role in the overthrow of Evo Morales in Santa Cruz; His idea was a sort of retribution for the capture of “Se” decades earlier.
