iPhone 16 is coming and these 5 features will be worth the wait

The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro are due to arrive in a couple of months, which means this isn’t the best time to buy a new iPhone 15. Unless you desperately need a new iPhone now, it’s wise to wait until September for the iPhone 16 or other iPhones to become cheaper.

Here are five new features in the iPhone 16 that will be worth the wait…

While the overall design of the iPhone 16 will look similar to the iPhone 15, Apple is making a notable change in form factor. According to multiple sources, including reliable analyst Ross Young, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will feature larger displays than their predecessors.

The iPhone 16 Pro is expected to come with a 6.3-inch display, compared to the 6.1-inch display on the iPhone 15 Pro. Similarly, the iPhone 16 Pro Max is expected to come with a 6.9-inch display, compared to the 6.7-inch display on the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

If these rumors are true, the iPhone 16 Pro Max will be the largest iPhone ever released, and it will also be the first change in iPhone screen sizes since the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max were introduced in 2020.

Better battery life and faster charging

The entire iPhone 16 lineup is said to feature larger batteries. As a reminder, here are the battery capacities for the iPhone 15 lineup:

• iPhone 15: 3,349 mAh
• iPhone 15 Plus: 4,383 mAh
• iPhone 15 Pro: 3274 mAh
• iPhone 15 Pro Max: 4,422 mAh

Here are the rumored capacities for the iPhone 16:

• iPhone 16: 3,561 mAh (6.3% increase)
• iPhone 16 Plus: 4,006 mAh (8.6% decrease)
• iPhone 16 Pro: 3,355 mAh (2.5% increase)
• iPhone 16 Pro Max: 4,676 mAh (5.7% increase)

Ming-Chi Kuo also reports that the iPhone 16 battery will have a higher energy density. Apple is also said to be testing ways to make the iPhone 16 battery easier to replace, in part due to a new metal battery casing.

According to one rumor, the iPhone 16 may also offer faster charging speeds. Currently, the iPhone 16 can be charged at 15W using MagSafe and 27W using a USB-C cable. This rumor claims that the iPhone 16 Pro will support 20W fast charging using MagSafe and 40W wired fast charging.

All four iPhone 16 models will have an all-new camera shutter button, which will be located on the right side of the phones (in the same place where the mmWave 5G antenna is currently located in the US.

The surface of the shutter button is said to be touch-sensitive. iPhone 16 users will be able to swipe left and right on the shutter button surface to zoom in and out. Additionally, according to the informationUsers will be able to focus on photos by gently pressing the button and activate the shutter by pressing harder.

Apple’s intelligence for everyone

At WWDC this year, Apple announced Apple Intelligence, a suite of AI features that will begin rolling out to its platforms later this year. However, for iPhone users, the features will only be available on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

However, the entire iPhone 16 lineup coming this fall is set to support Apple Intelligence thanks to a new chip and more RAM.

Camera Upgrades

Multiple sources have reported that the iPhone 16 Pro will rely on the same 5x zoom quad camera that is currently exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro Max. This was recently confirmed by Ming-Chi Kuo, who said that the iPhone 16 Pro will feature a specific 5x zoom camera like the Pro Max.

Kuo also reported that the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will use new Sony camera sensors for the main camera. Analyst Jeff Pu reported that the iPhone 16 Pro will use a new 48MP ultrawide camera, a significant improvement over the current 12MP ultrawide camera on the iPhone 15 Pro.
