Islamic State has claimed responsibility for the deadly attack in Iran that killed 84 people

Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei promised a “severe response to this catastrophe” to those responsible for the “terrorist attack” in the southern city of Kerman.

The explosions occurred outside Baghdad airport (Iraq) as a crowd gathered to commemorate the assassination of Soleimani, who died at the age of 62 in a 2020 US drone strike. The soldier was the head of the Quds Force, Iran's ideological army of the Revolutionary Guards and was responsible for Iranian foreign operations, particularly in the Middle East.
