Google is expected to launch four Pixel 9 smartphones on August 13, and today we have found a huge and detailed leak about the devices’ cameras. Information provided by Android AuthorityA new leak reveals the sensors and lenses in the Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 XL, and even the Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
The leaks include the front and main cameras, and we can see that Google is preparing a complete overhaul of the entire device. However, the main sensor will remain the same as the Pixel 8 series, and yes, that includes the Pixel Fold that was launched separately.
The sensors are again made by Sony or Samsung, with the Pro duo getting a 50MP IMX858 on the front and back. The very old IMX386 that was responsible for the ultra-wide-angle shots is finally gone, meaning there will be an increase in image resolution and size.
Interestingly, the Pixel 9 Pro and Pro XL get the new telephoto sensor while the Fold sticks with the old one. Android Authority speculates that this is because the foldable phone is 2mm thinner than its predecessor, and there isn’t any physical space for a larger sensor.
Here’s how the new sensors compare to last year’s sensors:

The source also revealed that Google may finally be able to record 8K video, and in theory, both the Tensor G3 chip and the Samsung GNK sensor were capable of processing it, and now Google is finally ready to take that step.
We expect all four Pixel 9 phones to be more expensive in Europe than last year’s flagships. There are still four weeks until launch, so we’ll keep our eyes peeled for more leaks.
