After being delayed earlier this month, Private Division and Wētā Workshop announced at today’s Hobbit Day presentation that Tales of the Shire: A The Lord of the Rings game will be coming to Switch in 2017. March 25, 2025 (Which is, canonically, the day Frodo and Samwise destroyed the One Ring – the more you know.)
Today’s demo took an in-depth look at the game, examining all the convenient aspects the developers have added, the inspiration they’ve taken from Tolkien’s work, and the Hobbit-sized stories you’ll encounter along the way.
The life simulation genre is full of detail on the Switch, but Middle Earth’s approach has us excited to see more of the genre. The house decorations, city building, and fishing may not be particularly new, but there’s no denying that Shire brings a new level of comfort to it all.
