Mark Briscoe believes it is his destiny to win the ROH World Television Championship. One problem though, Samoa Joe doesn’t believe in destiny. Briscoe challenged Joe in ROH Supercard of Honor PPV (March 31, 2023).
The match started out as a martial arts battle with Joe’s amazing techniques versus the redneck kung fu of Briscoe.
Briscoe hit a Spicolli driver on Joe and climbed the corner for the frog bow. The champion wisely exited the ring before Briscoe could fly. Briscoe lunged into Joe’s hands only to be thrown into the upper suplex. Joe pulls out a chair, but it backfires when Briscoe manages to use it to step up the cannonball. Briscoe dragged a table to slam a grenade off the apron through the wood.
The match continued with Joe choking down Briscoe’s attempts at a signature finish. Joe pounded in pain, but Briscoe’s spirit shot out with force. Briscoe finally made it to the sky on a frog bow, however, Joe kicked into the dramatic three count.
Briscoe called out to Jay Driller. Joe’s back was too big for Briscoe to secure the double underhook. Briscoe changed his plans for a portable crane for the fireman. On the way up, Joe grabbed Briscoe’s neck for the sleeper. Briscoe dug deep into the ropes. Joe exploded for a sleeping suplex and then proceeded to choke on the mat. Briscoe was forced out.
Mark Briscoe’s fate to win the ROH TV Championship awaits another day.
