Overwatch 2 players will have to pay $15 for permanent access to PvE story missions in the upcoming Season 6, Invasion.
Blizzard wrote in a blog post I posted today that the $15 price tag is tied to the Invasion bundle, which will launch alongside the upcoming season of the same name. Purchasing the Invasion pack will also give you 1,000 Overwatch coins, which normally cost $10, and a Sojourn Legendary Skin.
The most expensive bundle to come out of Overwatch 2: Invasion is the Ultimate Invasion Bundle, which will run you $40. Getting this pack in addition to the regular Invasion pack will earn you another 1,000 OW coins, Legendary skins for Cassidy and Kiriko, and a Null Sector Premium Battle Pass with 20 class skips.
The $15 price point for PvE story missions has drawn a backlash from fans on social media who have expressed bewilderment at being charged with what they consider to be basic content. Blizzard has not indicated if story missions will be temporarily free.
This comes on the heels of PvE Hero Mode being canceled by the development team last month due to taking too much time and resources away from the actual game to develop. At the time, director Aaron Keeler apologized to the Overwatch community for pulling the plug on the mode knowing fans were anticipating its release, saying he would focus on straightforward story missions moving forward.
Overwatch 2: Invasion launches on August 10th.
