Pixel Battery widget gets more dynamic colors

In addition to other battery-related changes in Android 15 Beta 4, Google has tweaked the Pixel widget to take advantage of more dynamic colors.

The design of the Pixel Battery widget — in its various sizes — hasn’t changed in Android 15, but your phone, which is always the first device in the list, now uses a different color than the other percentage bars below or to the right of it.

This helps you quickly distinguish the most important elements in the widget. (In the meantime, Google should create a more modern phone icon that doesn’t have thick bezels at the top and bottom.)

Beta 3.1 vs 4

Of course, the biggest change in Android 15 Beta 4 is how you can see the cycle count via Settings > System > Device Diagnostics > Component Health > Battery Health. The Parts History section also shows the manufacturing date and first use date, while the original capacity percentage shows what’s new and what’s more important.

This information was previously only available on the Pixel 8a (and later). In fact, on the mid-range, it has a more prominent place in Settings > About phone > Battery information. As of beta 4, 3-step access is not available on the Pixel 8 or tablet.
